Why we created this scholarship.
We want to empower the young leaders in our community by helping them make their dreams a reality. For many, that means a college education.
Recognizing that many students graduate college with thousands of dollars in debt or don’t feel like it’s an option, we’re going our part to invest in next generation leaders.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Age 20 or under
- Attend a school in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma
- Currently in the 10th – 12th grades
- Have a cumulative 2.5 grade point average or above
- Upon graduation attend a two- or four-year college, university, or technical school
- Upon being chosen you must be willing to lead and complete the service project you plan within a strict timeframe
Why this scholarship is different.
The defining element that makes this scholarship different is its focus on community involvement. Part of the application process for each student will be identifying a community improvement project and creating a plan to accomplish it. The best part, they’ll get the opportunity to actually complete their project because our church is going to help them do it.
We see this as a win-win-win.
- The student gets to improve their leadership skills along with receiving the scholarship.
- Colleges are looking for community involvement as a requisite to qualifying for other scholarships.
- Everyone involved gets to be a part of making our communities a better place.
The details for the application process and community involvement project are included in the scholarship packet.
